We are based in Dumfries, south west Scotland. Dumfries Cycling Club is a multi-discipline cycling club, with its members taking part in road, mountain bike and indoor track cycling. Members’ abilities and aspirations are also varied, and we have adapted our Saturday club run (road) to accommodate those training for competitions, as well as those who want a challenging ride at a more moderate pace, and those just starting out. Groups of similar abilities and aspirations set off together at pre-arranged times and follow the same pre-arranged route, with the faster groups setting off first.
If you are thinking about coming along to join us you will be made most welcome, and be looked after during the course of a ride. Some current experience of riding a racing bike would be useful but not essential as your fitness level soon increases with regular outings.
If you look around the web site you will find that Club members are involved in a wide range of competitive activities during the summer months, but training rides continue all year round. These rides are usually 50 miles long and take in a variety of routes on the quieter country roads in the Dumfries area.
So if you have had enough of going out on your own and are looking for company on Saturdays, then come along to Queen of the South Arena car park, Lochfield Road, Dumfries. The start times and routes for all of our rides are published on the Club runs page of this site - you are welcome to join us.
