Guid Nychburris

Bruce

John Caskie, Chairman of Guid Nychburris here, hope this finds you well?

This year on Guid Nychburris Day Saturday 15th June, we once again, intend having a cycling category as part of the Guid Nychburris Parade at 5pm
Last year, we did have similar, although it was a late thought and we maybe didn’t run the competition side of taking part correctly, however, we are open to suggestions on improving.

From memory, I’m not sure if your group per say, or maybe individuals from your group participated, but I do know there were entrants from maybe 3/4 groups as part of the cycle section.

My main reason for messaging is, two fold, would your group be interested in participating in the parade, and / or would members be interested in assisting, helping with the cycle section of it?

We are currently drawing up the parade entry form, which we hope to have ready within a couple of weeks.

Any offer of comment regarding a cycle section would be appreciated.

Whilst on the subject of cycling and Guid Nychburris (subject to confirmation from D&G Council and Police Scotland) we will be hosting one of the pre Guid Nychburris ride outs as both a town ride out, but also a family ride out, and are going to invite cyclists to join the ride ‘safely’ at the back of all the horses.

Is this something your group would possibly be interested in helping with?
The horse side of the ride out would be first, two stewards pickups in middle and cyclists at the back with further official vehicles at the very back.
The route would go through Summerpark, while the ‘drinks stop’ would be at Dock Park, full route details are being confirmed.
Any support would be appreciated, we would also like if you could encourage any of your group to participate.

I trust that this information gives a flavour of how we are trying to incorporate cycling into the Guid Nychburruis events programme, and further trust the information above sounds good to yourself and your group.
We’d appreciate any help and support you can give.

If you think it would be worthwhile to have a brief chat between us, or along with any of your members. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

Look forward to hearing from you.

With best regards

John
